Powerful robust Li power in handy format
New: Metabo compact class with lithium-ion technology / 7.2 V cordless driver drill for professionals / two-speed gearbox for screw fastening and drilling / “PowerMaxx Li” with unrivalled test values / 60 min battery charger “LC 60” with individual cell monitoring and balancing function / sophisticated design and integrated electronics / two versions: “Basic” and “Pro”
Nürtingen. Outstanding performance, powerful torque, compact design, two-speed gearbox for screw fastening and drilling paired for the first time with a long-lasting lithium-ion battery pack: these are the main features of the new cordless driver drill from the Metabo compact class. With the “PowerMaxx Li”, the Nürtingen-based manufacturer has extended its cordless tool range for professional users by a further powerful yet enormously practical, compact tool. The drill chuck accessory and offset angle screwdriver attachment make it an effective “3-in-1” power tool.
The torque of the all-purpose power tool with clockwise and anticlockwise rotation can be regulated in 19 steps. It additionally features a lever for the maximum power boost. The “PowerMaxx Li” achieves a maximum torque of 9 Nm (soft) and 16 Nm (hard) with a no-load speed of 0 to 250 rpm in the first gear and 0 to 750 rpm in the second gear. According to the producer, with these values the new power tool returns outstanding results in tests: per battery charge it can effortlessly drive up to 1250 size 3 mm x 20/25 mm screws into soft wood and with size 5 mm x 50 mm screws it makes light work of up to 385. It therefore leaves the competition in part way behind according to Metabo on the introduction of the new compact tool to the market. Furthermore, the all-purpose tool can drill holes of 6.5 mm or 3 mm diameter in soft wood, hard wood, plastics and sheet steel.

Environmentally friendly charging management
Metabo is also convincing in terms of the charging technology, which is based on a 60 min battery charger featuring intelligent charging management with individual cell monitoring. The system ensures optimum charging of the battery cells, thus substantially extending the service life of the battery pack. This feature is coupled with the balancing function that guarantees an identical fill quantity in the individual cells. The developers of the Nürtingen-based company therefore claim the battery performance is maintained at the same high level. The innovative characteristics of the “LC 60” charger also include a temperature sensor and an LED charge and defect signalling indicator. A further advantageous feature: the low standby power intake ensures economical power consumption. The power tool specialist was awarded the “Energy Star” for this feature. The “PowerMaxx Li” also comes with two battery packs ensuring professionals have a powerful machine that is always ready for operation.
Easy to use
The new compact class is used for varied applications by carpenters, joiners, furniture builders, flooring installers, motor vehicle mechanics, and installation technicians as well as for technical equipment in buildings. The power tool operates at 7.2 V and, including the 2.2 Ah Li-ion battery pack, weighs only 730 g. The ergonomically perfected design with improved grip position, an effective grip angle, the completely rubber-coated handle and variable speed trigger switch make it possible to concentrate fully when working over longer periods of time with this powerful multipurpose tool, without the risk of fatigue. The fan-cooled motor, which is designed specifically for this field of application, is mounted in the high-grade diecast aluminium gearbox housing that effectively carries off heat and its sturdy design ensures a long service life. Metal gears in the two-speed gearbox also increase the resistance to wear. Thanks to the integrated electronics, the speed of the battery-powered driver drill is infinitely adjustable to ensure accurate screw-driving and drilling results and effectively adapted to any specific situation.
Metabo supplies the “PowerMaxx Li” in the “Basic” version together with two battery packs, the “LC 60” battery charger and a 20-piece set of bits in a sturdy case. The “Pro” version additionally comes with a drill chuck and offset screwdriver attachment.
