“ SXE 425 TurboTec” / “SXE 450 TurboTec”: Latest disc sander with “TurboBoost” from MetaboExtra power for extra removalThe new Metabo disc sander with reserve power / “SXE 425 TurboTec” and “SXE 450 TurboTec” keep the competition at arms length / “TurboBoost” switch: Even more removal at the touch of a button / die-cast aluminium flange for longer service life / integrated “Intec” dust extraction now as standard // “SXE 450 TurboTec” with duo oscillating circuit Nürtingen, 13th September 2007. Every painter, varnisher or joiner has a disc sander for sanding wood, plastics, nonferrous metals or sheet metal. Whether it is in a mechanic’s workshop or a joiner’s, the machines are frequently used, often for long periods of time. A machine needs to be user-friendly, reliable and more importantly easy to handle. The reserve power is especially important, explains Metabo with information on two new models. The “SXE 425 TurboTec” and the “SXE 450 TurboTec” both have a new additional function which is able to mobilise even more power for maximum removal. This is referred to as a “TurboBoost” which can be switched on at any pre-selected speed and keeps the best competitors in this class at a safe distance with a higher removal power of more than 16 percent. In addition, both disc sanders are suitable for fine machining on smooth or slightly curved surfaces. The machines have an extremely sturdy die-cast aluminium flange which also adds to its service life. According to the manufacturer, they are more compact than their predecessor and even lighter with 2.0 or 2.2 kg. This is very beneficial if the machine is frequently used and pays off in the long run. Another plus point in terms of convenience is the latest integrated “Intec” dust extraction unit with pleated filters which can be repeatedly cleaned and reused – efficient as well as practical: the special design means you do not even have to remove the filter box to empty it. To clean it, you simply pull the pleated filter out of the cartridge using the lid. You can also connect a vacuum cleaner pipe instead of the Intec extraction unit if required. Powerful motors The eye-catching, ergonomic shape of the new product in the Metabo range is easy to handle, especially when using it for prolonged periods. The removable handle and the rubber grip supplied ensure increased safety due to the exact guidance and very secure grip. Their powerful motors put them in the most powerful brand of disc sanders, announces the manufacturer. The “SXE 425 TurboTec” stands out with its 320 watt motor and the “SXE 450 TurboTec” with 350 watt (rated output in each case). Both machines can easily be adapted to use on a variety of materials using the electronic speed control. As well as the additional handle and the “Intec” dust cartridge, the manufacturer also supplies the machines with three perforated cling-fit sanding sheets and an integrated hexagonal spanner for changing the grinding plate, which are available immediately with support plates and Velcro. The new machines are ideal for polishing when fitted with a lambskin disc from the optional accessories. The following accessories are also separately available: a sturdy transport box, a support plate, a cling-fit polishing sponge and cling-fit sanding sheets in various grain sizes. “SXE 450 TurboTec“ adjustable oscillating circuit The Metabo Extra for even more user convenience: unlike other disc sanders, the “SXE 450 TurboTec” has the unique feature of a duo oscillating circuit system which is particularly beneficial when working on larger surfaces. Its principle: simply adjust the oscillating circuit to sand the same workpiece first roughly and then finely. A diameter of 6.2 mm is used for a smooth but heavy material removal. However, a 2.8 mm setting easily achieves much finer results, explains the manufacturer. Downloads:
