‘BHE 20 IDR’: Hammering made easy and dust-free

A tidy job every time
‘BHE 20 IDR’: Innovative solution for dust-free overhead work / Metabo device generates dust extraction with dedicated motor / full suction power from the very beginning / tool-less filter replacement / Tool set weight of 3.5 kg for easy and tidy drilling of up to 16 mm holes / the ‘IDR’ is also available as an accessory / ‘BHE 20 Compact’ receives a renowned design prize
Nürtingen, GERMANY Performing overhead work (as is required when assembling air conditioning, sprinkler and alarm systems, installing ceilings or carrying out electrical installations) is a particular strain for the user without professional dust extraction. Not only is it unpleasant for the tradesperson who is covered in the falling dust, the fine particles also accumulate in the airways and lungs. Sensitive systems in private houses or public buildings such as hospitals and IT centres also suffer damage from the dirt, as does the device itself. The ‘BHE 20 IDR’ comes to your aid and is both a practical and economical solution to these problems.
This electric hammer drill from Metabo effectively protects you from dust by drawing the bore dust into a box with a pleated filter with its
‘Integrated Dust Reduction’ unit (or ‘IDR’). The filter can be removed by hand with ease in order to replace or clean it (ideally with compressed air). This significantly increases its overall service life.

Effective dust reduction unit due to independent motor
In addition, this newly developed version of the specialist electrical tool from Nürtingen also dazzles with its well-engineered technology, which includes an independent motor for dust extraction. Its advantage over competitors? The ‘BHE 20 IDR’ offers full suction power from the outset, regardless of the speed of the drill. Despite having an additional motor, with a combined weight of 3.5 kg, the set is very light. Without the IDR, the hammer drill weighs in at a mere 2.1 kg. And this forms no small factor in putting this combination in a ‘class of its own’ and streaks ahead of the competition. In addition, you save costs do to lowered servicing times. Wear parts such as the sealing cap, moulded seal and pleated filter can all be replaced without using a special tool all contribute to achieving these benefits.
Its compact, well-balanced, L-shaped design also makes the new model an ideal tool for working where movement is restricted. And it is easy to hold in any position. Housed in a plastic-covered aluminium gear housing in order to ensure a long service life and sturdiness, the device scores points on quality. The S-automatic torque limit clutch and a rubber-coated handle also underscore the top quality of the device.

Problem solver with broad range of applications
Particularly businesses involved in interior fitting work can benefit from the capabilities of the 'BHE 20 IDR’, which operates with a rated input power of 450 watts and is equipped with a hammer mechanism which performs at 4,900 impacts per minute. The hammer capability is specified as up to 16 mm for concrete and wood and 10 mm for steel. The broad range of applications is based on the hammering and drilling functions, explains the manufacturer. The hammer stop function allows sensitive surfaces, such as tiles, to be spot-drilled, as well as allowing the drilling of wood and metal with the relevant accessories. Moreover, the  forward and reverse running functionality allows screws to be screwed both in and out with the drill.
In its standard configuration, Metabo offers the ‘BHE 20 IDR' with a plastic carrying case, a 4 m rubber-coated cable, an additional handle, as well as a 5-piece set of sealing caps for dust extraction. Optional accessories include a scaffolding hook with a simple clip connector, an adapter to change between SDS plus and straight shank bits. Individually available pleated filters, moulded seals, nozzles with sealing caps, as well as a geared chuck and tools for its operation round off the list of extras.

Excellent hammer drill generation
Good news for owners of the ‘BHE 20 Compact’. You can purchase the new dust extraction performance of the ‘IDR’ separately and also join the manufacturers from Nürtingen as they revel in the distinction awarded to your electrical device: Just a short while ago, the successful series received a stamp of approval in the form of the coveted ‘red dot award’ for ‘product design 2007’ for providing a perfect balance between power, weight and ergonomic form.
