KHA 24: Cordless combination hammer sets new standards in design

Light, Fast and Secure
Making Light Work of Heavy Drilling

New levels of comfort for professionals - KHA 24: Light weight makes for effortless operation / Good ergonomics and slide-in battery / Two battery types: Li-Power and nickel-cadmium / high drilling performance and a wide spectrum of applications / “CODE!” function: Anti-theft function for drill and battery pack / VTC electronics ensures constant speeds even under heavy load
Nürtingen, Germany. Lightweight, yet, powerful: The KHA 24 cordless combination hammer is what professionals use to get the job done as easily as possible. With its light weight and suitability to a diverse range of applications, the new Metabo combination hammers are perfect for use in locations that are difficult to access, have no power supply, or wherever it is inconvenient to pull a cable behind you.  According to Metabo, the new range of combination hammers is perfect for those looking for high drilling performance, long service life, and excellent usability.
Alongside measurable criteria, the combination hammers also impress in the comfort arena with a generous handle and balanced weighting for better handling.  Much of this is achieved by the positioning of the battery, which is located directly underneath the gear housing. The battery is secured against unwanted loosening via a slide-in catch mechanism, but can still be easily changed with one hand without releasing your grip on the drill – a feature that is not available in many competitor’s products, as Metabo emphasizes.

3.7 kilograms with Li-Power
The new combination hammers are also extremely light-weight, weighing in at just 3.7 kg with the lithium ion (Li-Power) battery pack and 4.2 kg with the nickel-cadmium battery pack. Both models are the lightest that any 24-volt cordless combination hammer with comparable performance have ever been. The new combination hammers feature a maximum torque of 16 Nm, no-load speeds of 0 to 1,040 RPM, and a impact rates of 0 to 4,700 RPM, says Metabo.
The KHA 24's high performance allows it to drill diameters of 20 mm in concrete, 13 mm in steel, and 22 mm in wood. It also features a hammer stop function that makes both spot-drilling materials such as tiles and drilling wood and metal possible. And with its rotation stop function, chiselling poses no problem.
One of the useful accessory features of the new line of combination hammers is the optional anti-theft function. The best thing about the new “CODE!” function? It can be used to secure both the tool itself as well as the battery pack. This is particularly handy during charging, which is when batteries are particularly at risk of theft, according to a recent survey.  Coded battery packs are considerably less attractive to thieves, as they can be charged, but not discharged.

Tried-and-tested VTC electronics
Metabo’s safety technology bases on tried-and-tested VTC electronics that offers some practical features. For example, VTC ensures constant drilling speeds throughout the battery discharge cycle, even under heavy loading, which has a huge influence on the speed of your work. This is extremely useful especially when drilling small diameters – a task often assigned to battery-powered combination hammers. When other devices can no longer expel the bore dust, the KHA 24 with VTC electronics is just getting started, claims Metabo.
Other important characteristics of the new range of combination hammers include the die-cast aluminium gear housing, which conducts heat away from the motor and is designed to increase the life of the drill. The combination hammers featuring lithium batteries will also appeal to professionals seeking units that operate with low levels of vibration: The combination hammers include a Metabo VibraTech (MTV) grip that "further reduces the low level of vibration that is standard in our SDS Max hammers”.
The standard package includes an carry case made of ABS, two battery packs, and an ASS 15 Plus air-cooled super-quick charger that efficiently cools the battery to increase its service life. The battery packs are available in either 25.2 Volt / 2.2 Ah lithium-ion (Li-Power 28) or 24 Volt 2.0 Ah nickel-cadmium models. Suitable drill bits and other professional accessories such as SDS-Plus holders, adapters, geared chucks, chisels, and more are available from Metabo’s range of accessories.
