2007's success story continues: Renowned design awards for Metabo productsGood design is corporate responsibilityAward winning: Multi-hammer "P'7911", combination hammer "KHE 56" as well as cordless drill "PowerMaxx Li" / honours coming in from Chicago, Essen and Hanover / Metabo: Good design is an important component of product policy Nürtingen, 15. May 2008. Electric power tools by Metabo have a longer life span and can render their services on building sites for decades to come. This is, among other things, due to core component design strengths such as the commonly used tried and tested Metabo marathon motor and all metal die cast gear housings. Indeed, for a long time now, great value has been placed not only on technology, durability and strength in the development of machines in Nürtingen. Styling also flows into the conception. A factor, which becomes more than evident in their ease of use, appearance and safety, according to the Nürtingen based manufacturer. It is also true that the international design institutes have a similar point of view and certify it with renowned awards. For example, with the "Good Design Award" from the Athenaeum Museum for Architecture and Design in Chicago. Established in 1950, this award is one of the oldest in the design scene worldwide. Products and product concepts which epitomise innovation and originality, and set trends in the areas of design and structure, are awarded prizes. The multihammer "P'7911", which bears the distinctive signature of Porsche Design, could above all convince the jury with its handle being located above the appliance. A feature which results in both comfort and operating advantages for the user. At the same time, a feature which is good for making a distinction on the global market, states Metabo. Integrating a level of innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics, durability and self-explanatory grade "extraordinarily good" into a technically demanding electric power tool: the same applies for the "KHE 56". Apart from that, the combination hammer knows how to please with its user safety solutions. Commendable qualities which, as mentioned, have recently become manifest in the "red dot award: product design 2008". The award is offered annually in open competition by the Essen Design Centre Northrhine Westphalia, and could glitter this year with a record of over 3,000 submissions from 51 countries. A further credit from the city on the Ruhr additionally held true for the "PowerMaxx Li". It received the coveted "red dot" quality label in recognition of a high-performance, yet still tremendously easy-to-manage, compactly-built cordless screwdriver, as the Swabian producer reported. The particular quality of design, but also factors like price and environmental efficiency of the appliance, based on lithium-ion technology, also convinced the experts at the International Forum Design in Hanover. The result: the "iF product design award 2008". "Good design is for us not just a means to an end. In fact, by striving for it, we are pursuing a premium strategy, to further increase the international strength of the brand", explained Peter Hartung. For the divisional manager of Marketing and Public Relations at Metabo, the positive performance at this year's design competitions goes hand-in-hand with last years' honours, for example for "Strategic Company Communication" or for being one of the "100 best company and product brands" in Germany. "Plain to see: professional company performance and corporate responsibility rely on the motivation of all specialist areas, whereby design plays a key role", comments Hartung on the success story.
