Metabo creates transparency and consistently measures up to EPTA

EPTA stands for European Power Tool Association and is an association uniting the most important European power tool manufacturers. Among other things, EPTA creates directives designed to ensure uniform and comparable device specifications and data.
The EPTA directive states exactly how the weight of a tool is to be defined and measured. This directive defines that a tool is to be weighed without the cable, but with all accessories required for normal use (in accordance with the operating instructions). Using an angle grinder as an example, this would include the flange nut, the inner support flange, the protective cover and the side handle.
In the past, every company has had their own standard method of weighing, including Metabo. This is the reason why, prior to the introduction of this directive, specifications varied from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Metabo as a founding member of EPTA has been using the EPTA directives for measuring purposes since 2011. In all print media (catalogues, brochures etc.) with a date of issue after 01.01.2011, the weights are implemented in accordance with the new EPTA directives. Print media issued prior to 01.01.2011 will, for the most part, use the old values which are not necessarily incorrect, they just use a different specification (method of measuring).
In order to offer the greatest possible level of transparency to our customers, Metabo is the first EPTA manufacturer to ensure that as of 01.01.2012 only values determined in accordance with EPTA are used on the Internet. Of course, with immediate effect, whenever a catalogue or brochure is reprinted, the new EPTA measuring methods will be implemented.
