Questions and Answers - XXL Warranty

1. What is the XXL warranty?
The XXL warranty is a warranty extension to three years, which you can acquire free of charge by registering online at www.metabo.com/xxl or www.elektra-beckum.com/xxl. The XXL warranty is available only for machines purchased from 1st January 2004.

2. Why are METABO and ELEKTRA BECKUM offering an XXL warranty?
METABO and ELEKTRA BECKUM products have a high quality that meets professional requirements. In addition, all METABO and ELEKTRA BECKUM machines are designed for a very long service life and low susceptibility to failure. These properties will be proven by the XXL warranty.

3. Do all machines purchased from now have the XXL warranty?
The XXL warranty is an optional warranty extension which you can receive for free when you register online, provided you bought your machine from 2004 onwards. You must register to receive the warranty extension. This does not happen automatically for each newly purchased machine.

4. Why is the XXL warranty only available after registration?
With the registration, you provide us valuable information for future products and service offers. This is worth a XXL warranty for us!

5. How does the registration work?
On our home page you fill out the form for the XXL warranty. At the end of the registration process there will be a link. By clicking on this link you will arrive at your XXL warranty certificate which you must print out immediately. If you provided your email address on the registration form then the link to the XXL warranty certificate will simultaneously be sent to this address, so that you can reprint your certificate at any time. When claiming against your warranty you must send this certificate together with the original sales documents/receipt and the faulty device.

6. How can I register if I do not have my own internet connection?
You can register your device at any place with internet access at  www.metabo.com/xxl or www.elektra-beckum.com/xxl . When purchasing a new machine your specialist dealer can also carry out the registration process for you, provided that they have an internet connection.

7. How do I get my confirmation of registration?
See question 5.

8. Do I need an email address for registration?
No, an email address is not strictly necessary, but is highly recommended, as we can then also  send you the link to the XXL warranty certificate. If you have no email address then you must click on the link that is shown after you have entered the required information, which takes you to the XXL warranty certificate, which you must then print out immediately.

9. Can I complete the registration without having to print it out?
No, a written receipt is mandatory as proof while applying for a warranty claim.

10. How soon must I register the acquired machine?
The machine must be registered maximum four weeks after purchase.

11. Is the sales receipt required as proof?
Yes, the original sales receipt is mandatory, as only this receipt provides accurate information on the machine purchase date.

12. Which supporting documents are required for the warranty extension?
To claim against the XXL warranty you need the original sales document/receipt and the XXL warranty certificate.

13. Do I need to register separately  for each of my machines?
No, at the end of each registration you will be asked whether you wish to register another machine. You can repeat this process as often as necessary until you have registered all of your machines.

14. Does the XXL warranty apply to all my machines after a one-time registration?
No, the warranty is always machine-dependent and also person-dependent.

15. What information is mandatory?
You must enter your country and name, whether you are a private or commercial customer, address, date of purchase, the name of the dealer including location and post code, as well as the article and serial numbers.

16. From which date does the warranty period commence?
The warranty period commences on the date you purchased the machine from the distributor, which is mentioned on your sales receipt. On registering for the XXL warranty, you receive a warranty extension to three years based on the METABO and ELEKTRA-BECKUM warranty terms.

17. Am I entitled to a warranty claim without an online receipt?
Yes, you are entitled to the normal warranty period. The online receipt is meant exclusively for extension of the warranty period to the XXL warranty (three years).

18. How soon after the purchase date must I complete the registration?
The machine must be registered within four weeks after the purchase date.

19. Can I also take the XXL warranty for an old machine that I bought before 2004?
No, you can only apply for the XXL warranty only for machines that were purchased from 01.01.2004 onwards.

20. Can another person register my machine on my behalf?
Yes, as long as the other person has all the necessary mandatory information (see question 15).

21. What happens to the information that I enter?
METABO uses your information only for internal purposes, keeps it confidential and will not forward it to third persons, unless it pertains to Metabo group companies. You can read our data protection principles under the URL http://www.metabo.de/***.

22. Is it possible to register without agreeing to the warranty conditions?
No, you must click on the "Yes, I agree to the warranty conditions" field, thus activating the instruction, otherwise registering is not possible.

23. I have subsequently retracted my approval to the processing and use of my personal data. Can I still claim against the XXL warranty?
Yes, only agreeing to the conditions of the warranty is mandatory.

24. If I want to regularly register machines, do I need to re-enter my personal data each time?
No. When you register for the XXL for the first time you have the opportunity to set up a user account. In the registration form please note that the box "Save address for later access (create user account)" is checked. Your email address is automatically used as your user name, however you can change this. Select a password to go with it. Afterwards in the future you only need to login in on the XXL home page with your user name and password and register your machines.

25. I mistakenly entered a wrong article / serial number and printed out the incorrect receipt. What can I do?
Repeat the registration with the correct information and print the receipt out again.  Ideally you should also inform Metabo about the incorrect registration so that we can delete it.

26. Can I apply for the XXL warranty also for accessories?
No.

27. Where will I find the article number and serial number that must be entered compulsorily?
The 8-digit article number and the 10-digit serial number (METABO) and the 10-digit article number and the 10-digit serial number (ELEKTRA BECKUM) are mentioned on the machine type plate (see picture).

28. I have registered, but I could not print out the certificate / I have not received a confirmation email.
Please inform Metabo. Please provide you name and address and the article and serial numbers of the registered machine. Metabo will immediately try to enable you to access your warranty certificate.

29. I have created an XXL user account but have forgotten my password
When you go to the XXL home page, under the user name and password entry fields there is a "Forgotten your password? link. Please click on the link and then enter the required information on the form displayed. The password will be sent immediately to the email address that you provided upon registering.
